Pearly Everlasting
anaphalis margaritacea
Native Americans often utilize odoriferous plants for medicinal purposes and pearly everlasting was no exception. Pearly everlasting occurs commonly in dry, stony, or clay-rich soils of mountain meadows, prairies, and fallow fields across most of North America.
The tiny yellow flowers are enclosed by white papery bracts, often mistaken for petals. The overall appearance is a pearly mound; a nice shape and colour for a garden edge.
Food plant for Painted lady butterflies.
Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticultural Society.
