Large clusters of small flowers are produced from summer to early fall. Native Americans used boneset for a large variety of medicinal purposes. Stabilizes soil for erosion control.
Found in wet soils of marshes, ditches, seeps, and aquatic margins. Provides nectar for pollinators, seeds for songbird, and hosts for moths and caterpillars.
Selected as the 2003 NC Wildflower of the Year by the NC Botanical Garden.
