Shade-tolerant perennial. Plant in a spot that receives sunlight in the spring and some shade in the summer, like under a deciduous shrub or a tree, or under a gazebo that fills in with foliage in the summer.

In our garden (Marina from Halifax Perennials) hellebores grow in a full sun spot among other perennials. In spring, when hellebores bloom, they receive lots of sunlight, as most perennials are just starting to come up from the ground. In the summer, neighbouring plants protect hellebores from the heat.

Rabbit and deer resistant.

Blooms for 2-3 months, from March-April to June.
