Cattleya-like, pinkish-purple flowers. Forms a slowly spreading clump. Grows best in damp soils in 1-6 hours of sun. Flowering will be sparse in shade.

After flowering, continue to water regularly for the remainder of the growing season. Mulch for the winter.

Shallow rooted. Forgiving when divided or transplanted. Plant newly divided roots 4″ deep.

May not be reliably winter hardy throughout USDA Zone 5 where a winter mulch is advisable. Will naturalize over time in optimum growing conditions by short rhizomes.
