Canadian White Star Rose
Hybrid Tea
Hybridizer: George Mander (Canada, 1980)
Average diameter 6″.
This flawless beauty is a classic collectors rose. It’s a long stem bloom, snow white and simply stunning. Large, very full (41+ petals), exhibition, high-centered, quilled, reflexed bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season. It responds well to rich soil and good gardening practices.
Very disease resistant, mildew resistant. Can stand days of rain before petals spot. It is also one of just a few dozens hybrid tea roses in the world with excellent mildew and blackspot resistance.
This rose has been featured on a Canadian Stamp. Very rare and hard to find.
In August 2001 Canada Post issued 4 roses postage stamps and Canadian White Star Rose was one of them.
In early 2003 the Canadian postage stamp featuring ‘Canadian White Star’ has been chosen in the Paris based International Philatelic Competition as the “Most Beautiful Stamp” in the Americas and the “Third Best” stamp in the world.
