A tree-shaped rose on a 3-foot stem

Large rose bush released for Canada’s 150th birthday in 2017, the first of a collection called 49th Parallel Collection. Very full rich red blooms. Resists black spot and powdery mildew.

Canadian Shield is one of my most healthy and hardy roses and blooms steadily even in a slightly shaded spot.

Repeat bloomer.

Winter-hardy. When the rose goes dormant in late fall, wrap the graft and branches with a couple of layers of burlap. The stem does not need winter protection.
