Gertrude Jekyll is a shade-tolerant and repeat flowering rose. Can be grown as a shrub or a short climber.
Strong old rose fragrance. Gertrude Jekyll rose will perform well in
full sun, part shade, and even in dappled shade or along a bright, north-facing wall.
USDA hardiness zone: 5. Survives winters well in Halifax area and along the South Shore of Nova Scotia (USDA zone 6). Survives most winters in the rest of Nova Scotia (USDA zone 5), but once every few years the top growth can be lost, but it will regrow. Protect just in case by piling up about a foot of earth around its base
after the first frost.
Available as a bare root plant or in pots. Won't be mailed. Pick up in Halifax.
Bare root pick-up: Bare root plants need to be picked up and planted within 2-3 days of their arrival to us. Tentatively, in the first week of May, but may vary by a couple of days. A notification of roses arriving will be posted on our Facebook page about 1-2 weeks ahead of time. Roses can be planted in the garden in early May; they are hardy and won't mind an occasional night freeze.
If you might not be able to pick up and plant your rose promptly, consider selecting "potted plant" option instead.
